Role Overview
We are seeking an energetic and disciplined Commis Chef to join our kitchen team. In this role, you will assist senior chefs with daily mise en place, station prep, cooking line execution, and maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Responsibilities
Mise en Place & Prep: Wash, peel, chop, portion, and prep vegetables, meats, sauces, and dry goods according to standardized recipe sheets.
Line Execution: Assist with basic cooking tasks—grilling, frying, baking, sauteing, and assembling tickets accurately during service hours.
Consistency & Quality: Follow established portion controls, plating guidelines, and recipe specifications to maintain product consistency.
Hygiene & Food Safety: Maintain strict sanitation standards across prep stations, refrigeration units, and cookware; practice continuous "clean-as-you-go" discipline.
Inventory & Storage: Monitor FIFO (First In, First Out) rotation, date-label all prep containers, and alert the Head Chef about low stock or spoilage.
Kitchen Maintenance: Assist with opening and closing checklist duties, including deep cleaning equipment, sanitizing surfaces, and trash disposal.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Degree/Diploma in Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or equivalent practical kitchen experience.
Experience: 0–2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen, restaurant, or cafe (fresh culinary graduates welcome for Commis III roles).
Technical Skills: Sound foundational knife skills, basic knowledge of cooking techniques, and understanding of food safety temperatures.
Attributes: Punctuality, physical stamina to stand for long shifts, team player mindset, and the ability to take direct feedback during rush hours.
Certifications: Basic Food Safety / FSSAI certification (or equivalent local health compliance) is a plus.
